means you can go lower as the wheels dont hit the seat belt area It also means you lose stability and you hit more potholes and makes you look gay )
Down right dangerous they should be banned I put one on my last bay it ruined the ride. I felt like I was one of the Anthill mob constantly steering as I was driving, it narrows the track. There is a much greater risk of rolling the bus on a tight bend. I'd never do it again.
Some of this aftermarket stuff scares the crap out of me. Where I work we design equipment using the latest CAD software, perform stress analyses, fatigue test it to 5 times it's normal life, perform a set of environmental tests and then do a full life endurance test before contemplating putting it into service. I'm sure that much of the original equipment installed on our treasured vans was similarly designed and tested (except perhaps the CAD part). However some aftermarket stuff available today is more than likely fabricated in a shed (out of who knows what) from a simple sketch of the original part, and provided all the bolt holes line up reasonably well, it is considered fit for purpose. There's a reason why some things appear cheap.
