My website

  1. My website has fallen on its arse. I have had it for 2 years now and it seems only spammers are signing up.

I did enjoy it at the begining, when it was active, but now its more like a chore to even look at it.

Should I close it down? (I think I have just answered that myself)

  3. Its a sad day indeed.

Even though the site has fallen on its ass I have made the decision to close it down. Strangely it's a little saddening.

I guess it's because of all the hard work I put into creating my own theme and setting it all up, then months of advertising. Even got it in the local paper.

Ah well, the end of an era. :(

can you open it to all and see if that makes a difference?

    just an idea noel

  8. Yeah. Closed registration etc

I'll open it up so you can see but most of it has now gone.

  9. Ok now?

  10. If I had known about it I may have shown some interest. Did you advertise and try and bring it up the search index?

it had potential. i guess most want to sell everything on ebay?

  12. The concept was there, niche Market that didn't have much competition. Free cycle etc were in their infancy when I started This. In the first year it was on the first page of google and was getting 500,000 hits a month.

    Then suddenly it just stopped.

Users dropped, visits fell. It moved to the 3rd or 4th search page because of lack of new posts, and died.

It has a twitter account linked in that automatically tweets new posts from the swap section, Facebook page.

Google changed its SEO tact and by then I couldn't be bothered to learn the new techniques.

  13. And yes HF, people don't want to swap, they want money.

I tried to make an auction site too with fees at a quarter of ebays but trying to take on a major corporation like that it was destined to fail.

  14. Well, I own the site name for another year I may as well do something with it, the hosting is paid for as well.

    Any ideas?

  15. Sell the domain name to a wife swapping group ?

  16. I tried selling my other, ibid-online, but got no interest had to let it run out.

    I only paid

  17. Got any money making ideas?

Yes I could make a porn site and make tons on advertising but the mrs won't let me do that. Lol
