My website has fallen on its arse. I have had it for 2 years now and it seems only spammers are signing up. I did enjoy it at the begining, when it was active, but now its more like a chore to even look at it. Should I close it down? (I think I have just answered that myself)
Its a sad day indeed. Even though the site has fallen on its ass I have made the decision to close it down. Strangely it's a little saddening. I guess it's because of all the hard work I put into creating my own theme and setting it all up, then months of advertising. Even got it in the local paper. Ah well, the end of an era.
www.swapsiesuk.co.uk I have just deleted loads of sections and removed most of the blocks from the front page.
it says members only that pus lots of people off can you open it to all and see if that makes a difference? just an idea noel
If I had known about it I may have shown some interest. Did you advertise and try and bring it up the search index?
The concept was there, niche Market that didn't have much competition. Free cycle etc were in their infancy when I started This. In the first year it was on the first page of google and was getting 500,000 hits a month. Then suddenly it just stopped. Users dropped, visits fell. It moved to the 3rd or 4th search page because of lack of new posts, and died. It has a twitter account linked in that automatically tweets new posts from the swap section, Facebook page. Google changed its SEO tact and by then I couldn't be bothered to learn the new techniques.
And yes HF, people don't want to swap, they want money. I tried to make an auction site too with fees at a quarter of ebays but trying to take on a major corporation like that it was destined to fail.
Well, I own the site name for another year I may as well do something with it, the hosting is paid for as well. Any ideas?
Got any money making ideas? Yes I could make a porn site and make tons on advertising but the mrs won't let me do that. Lol
