Is it communicating with iTunes? If so you can restore from there.

  4. burn it and buy a sony walkman

  6. Put on a pair of Levis and a black turtleneck, and see if it starts working again...

  7. ditto the walkman, I love mine, it's easier to handle, use and load up, the work's ipod drives me potty and I hate it with a passion

Does the iPod appear as a drive on your pc (or are you on a mac?) if so can you right click and format?

  9. Try a different cable - one of mine does this all the time and with a different cable it's fine

  11. I'll fetch a spare cable with me at the weekend xx

  12. As someone else suggests my bet is the cable.

I had the same issue a while back. Changed the cable and voila. Also try a different USB port. Could be that.

quick one, my iPhone will only sync with iTunes and work correctly if I use a USB2 port, on an ordinary port it crashes, have you tried USB2 with the iPod?

  14. Try a different USB port. Windows can be a but funny about that sometimes.

    DON'T FORMAT

If you format and it still won't connect to iTunes you have an expensive paperweight.

Try the USB and different cable first. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll come up with a couple of solutions.

  16. What happened there??

  17. If ever I have trouble with my iPod Touch I hook it up to the wife's Mac to restore. Apple likes talking to Apple!

when my old touch got nicked, i bought the new generation one, the old leads dont work with the new ones, not even the old docks. they must have played with the connections or something in the new leads. buy a new genuine lead buddy!
