  1. cheers dude :)

wow, the underside is looking sweeeeeeeeeeet 8) its comming along really nicely :)

try pm'ing the poster regarding the quote on pg 2 and ask him to delete the links to all the other pics and that should trim it down a bit, they just need to go in and click 'modify' post then highlight the image codes and hit delete

or you could try pm'ing HorTs, Mork or Dog and they could do it

keep up the good work

Pet hate - peeps who quote a post with 20+ pics then add something useful like "cool mate" or "what colour are you going to paint it?". Why quote for that? Hit the wrong button? Don't you have a "back" button on your browser?

BTW not getting at anyone in particular and haven't looked to see who it was on this thread.

View through the booth window after 3rd exterior coat. We decided to paint the whole thing white to give us a gloss finish enabling us to have a first real look at the panels for ripples etc. worked well, we can see a few here and there, nothing major. Going to block the side panels again before the yellow goes on to achieve as good a finish as possible.

Pip the paint tutor adding a bit of back ground colour for comparison... ^-^

Thought I'd just fit ma scrotum pole for effect. thinking about going with this kind of polished wood look throughout the van, dash, cabinets, kickboards etc.. We tried the method on the totem pole and I think it looks sweeeeeet! All credit to Zuf, a very talented collegue of mine. What d'ya think....? ;D

So thats it for now, that lot just took me about two hours to format and load, wow photobuckets annoying, I face palmed about 7 times because of slow performance and crashing. Grrr. was wise enough to periodically copy and paste every now and again to a word doc, not falling for that again, lost about 2 hours graft last time.. Hope alls well wiv you lot.. will check back soon, ta folks. over and out.

  5. Looking superb there, deano!

The totem pole looks pretty damned good, too - how'd you do that?

I'd have to win the lotto to afford that much welding work (granted, my bus in a dry desert state and ex-California isn't too bad, but there's enough little bits and pieces around the edges.

  6. Hi Ben, thanx for pos comments, the totem pole was airbrushed, the dash is in the middle of being done too, will post some pics when its ready. it was just a trial thing but its turned out so good i'm gonna go for it throughout. ;D

Looking really good, and loving the wood look totem airbrushing, looks nice and straight and the neatly washed in seam sealer looks good.

There's just one thing that makes me uncomfortable looking at your pictures though, and its the lack of dust, dirt, mess, trip hazards, discarded tools, inappropriate tools, grubby tea mugs, tarpaulins, injuries, pets, and kids that most other resto threads here seem to contain! :-X

  8. lmao Kruger.. excellent reply, really did laff out loud. Yeah shame about all that essential excitement missing from the surrounding areas of the van. but if theres lots of student types knocking about wi not a lot to do, may as well utilise em for cleanin up etc.. haha. Ta pal. :))

  9. What can I say other than WOW!!!!

  10. slave driver I LOVE YOUR STYLE , 7k for panels welding i had to read it twice lol owen nw :praise:

  11. I know, seems like a lot of cash for welding etc, but ya know, it's the way I wanted to go. Could've gone out n bought a 13k bus, but still wouldn't be certain of structural integrity, quality of workmanship, etc. This way I know it's going to last, quality paints and materials, rewire will be to a high standard and really personalised, I also gain a lot of knowledge/experience during the resto, and even though it may seem like i'm bossin the students around n whipping em >:D it's actually a perfect project for the college. The kids love it, imagine them painters on a Corsa or somet, boring!!. Them two lads pictured are from Bombardier and paint Trains.. Haha. They absolutely loved painting the van the other day. I'm not building a show bus, it's gonna be jus for me, hence the high top, and the scoobie lump I'm puttin in it.. Don't get me wrong, looking forward to a bit of attention for the van at shows etc. ::) but it's gonna mainly be for me n the kids etc for hols, kids are growing up now, need to squeeze the last years together and fill em with some good memory's. Ultimately I'm gonna be buried init.. Haha, that's how long I'm keepin the thing.. ^-^

I've just reread the whole thread as had half forgotten about it although I'd replied before midway through!

A tremendous job done so far without taking any shortcuts, and an all too familiar approach as with my own resto, and thats sometimes, 2 steps forward 1 step back when trying to get things as close as spot on, - like the !@*# fit early lower front panels - had exactly the same problem myself!

Top resto thread with plenty of decent pictures, Looking forward to this coming together.

  14. Thanks for pos comments and Karma dude.. Like ya say, jobs hard enough at times without the crappy fitting panels. I think the worst part so far to be honest was the gutters, I was worried I would have to go down the roof chop route at one stage as the replacement gutter sections were terrible. All from Schoeys but all different profiles as different batches. The fabricator guy there tho was ace in the end and went beyond the call and rolled me some to my exact requirements.. I had spent 2.5k on panels with them tho.. It was a real tricky job to get them right as I was just sitting them on top of the seams (of which there are 3) after cutting the the actual gutter off, so I needed a deeper 'dip' in the gutter curl, to make it look right.. All worked out in the end tho. After a hell of a lot of head scratching.. Haha.
