Right then you lot, my bay arrives tomorrow afternoon. If you've seen my other thread you'll know I bought it in October last year and it's spent all that time in transit from Denver Colorado.

I obviously need to get it started, what should I check first before connecting a battery and turning the key.

    It's a 1977 2.0ltr injected engine.

I'll post up some pics of it when it arrives.

quick check over fuel lines, visual inspection of fuel lines in engine bay, oil levels. then just attempt to start it if all is good.

  5. Check everything is apparently switched off before connecting the battery, a good visual around the fusebox and underdash for stray wiring . Check handbrake works and there is fluid in the hydraulics. Work the clutch pedal in case the clutch is sticking through non use. Don't automaticaly assume everything will be in working order.:D

It was a runner when I bought it, so in theory, with new fuel and probably a new battery it should fire up straight away. I'll obviously check the oil level first.

Wishful thinking on my part possibly...

That's the plan, unfortunately the guy I use can't take it tomorrow, so i'll take a look first, get it started, swap the head lights and sort out the side lights, give it a once over for the obvious things and then run it down there for an MOT.

No need, it's fuel injection high pressure etc, will take modern fuel no problem, check the low pressure lines, drain and clean the fuel tank, replace the fuel filter with an Fi one available from heritage (£13)

Fuss, fuss, fuss. If it starts drive it home. OK, check the oil level first.
