My 72 money pit

  1. It all started in June 2007 with our first camper

    with it just been restored we thought we would have many many years of rust free happiness (yeah right ) 2 years down the line the trouble started :mad: rust ,rust and more rust :'( so i bit the bullet and started the proper restoration :eek:

    some sheets of steel were going free at work so i made my floor panels :D

    found some more rot around the rear light and the front deformation panel so chopped out the rot and replaced with new

    they was a bit of rot and some drill holes and a fresh air vent in the rear of the van behind the air vents so more chopping and replacing ::)

    and that was about it till the site went ti*s up and my pc
    and this what has happened since then
    time to go to the sprayers yippeeeee ;D ;D ;D

    sorry i don't have any more pics but here she is returning home 8)

    so as you can see the end is in sight and i have still got a big grin on my face every time i look at her ;D

  6. 8) thanks guys 8) it has been a long journey that i will never forget . the thing is what am i going to do at the weekends now the neighbours will think its too quiet ;) .

  13. hi all got a bit more done :D
    finished putting all the scrapers in the front doors what a pig getting the inner ones in :mad: . i still have a gap between the window and outer rubber scraper of about 3 to 4mm not sure what to do :- . could it be the profile of the new outer skin that i put on :( .any ideas would be much appreciated

    just waiting for the handles and front lights to come back and i need to order some new rear lights when i get some cash .
    then dare i say it she will be ready for the mot :eek: then think of how i am going to do the inside .

    when i seen it on the vw scirocco i said to my self thats the one :dance:
     
  18. got a bit more done
    fitted the lights, grill and wing mirrors

    put all the handles in and fixed the sliding door handle so i can now lock it from the out side :D

    repairs needed to the tinware
    [​IMG]
    made a template then i chopped out the rot and spot welded the new part in place
    [​IMG]
    fitted and rewired a new horn in
    almost time to book it in for the mot :dance:
