mw lw 8track

  1. i've just been give an original 1970s 8 track car radiomoble mw lw radio by my dad to fit in my bus it look really cool , however i want to convert it to fm so i can play my itune aswell i've been told this is possible but don t know where to go

    can anyone help ?

  3. I have seen this done and think its a great idea! just google classic car stereo conversion and you will find a few companies that do it.

  4. I'm quite sure I've seen some sort of adapter that can be wired into your system that would allow you to plug in your ipod without having to alter your vintage unit. Glad to help you look for it if you're interested.
    Even if my memory has gone optimistic again, or if we can't find this, surely any good audio installation professional could figure out something, such as installing a small amp in your glove box and fitting it with an input jack.
    Hang on. It's coming back to me. That is precisely the sort of thing I saw. It was just a tiny amp, smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It fits discreetly into the system somehow, bypasses the dash radio and sends the ipod signal directly to the speakers under it's own power.
    (assuming you intended to feed your itunes in thru an ipod or phone via cable. Those FM transmitters are, how do you say over there,... CACK?)
