The actual MOT test charge is unavoidable, but what are LB members repair costs to pass?? My T2's total MOT related repair cost for the last 16 tests has been £1880. Which I reckon is great value for such an old vehicle. Shouldn't feel too smug I suppose, the next one could be much more....
Alas I cannot match such low figures as mine failed twice in 20 years so it must be up around the £100 mark now. Sooo unreliable.
In that case. Well done for passing the MOT next week. I think you're right though, if you spend time and effort getting it right in the first place these vans repay you by being dependable and reliable. Mine starts better than my new car does.
Our van was MoTed as soon as it arrived from the US, as a check on what was servicable and what was not. Total mechanical work since then runs to maybe £3k, but not all was necessary for the MoT and was done because I wanted it doing. Generally, I don't expect any post MoT repairs on my cars, even though 2 of them are over 10 years old and both do quite a few miles (125k on the Skoda, 150k on the Previa). If you maintain cars correctly, the MoT shouldn't hold any surprises.
I'm not so lucky; new front beam, shocks ball joints etc etc.... However, did take the opportunity to invest a fully adjustable custom one, upgraded shocks and a subtle nose down bit of lowering
My two mot's have been under £100. As said above, I've put the work in to try make sure the bill stays low.
i had to pay for the mot for the first time last week failed on 2 upper ball joints that i knew were shot, cost less than £40 for parts, zero for my labour and a breakfast roll as payment to my mate to use his press
In the 3 MOT's my bus has had I've paid £0 for work after the MOT because it's not needed any and £0 for an MOT
Our fievyearmold car has failed every mot. Our forty year old camper has passed three on the trot straight through!
