£30 and i learned an amazing fact. mot slots cost £1 off the vosa peeps, the maximum charge is £54? and garages charge what they like to that ammount.

  4. Interesting piece on daybreak this morning about MOT's in that you can tale your vehicle to the local bus garage (council) and they do cheap MOT's but do zero work so have no vested interest in a fail..... That annoying Martin bloke does find some good money saving ideas

  6. 29.00 and they pass

    Silver Needs points/will pay!

I pay £45, but the vehicles are collected from home and returned later.

  8. My local, near work in Hereford charges £50 but if its bulbs, wiper blades, or a few quids worth of work they don't charge for it, their philosophy is that you will come back to them when something happens as you trust them not to sting you. Good bunch of lads who always have time for older vehicles

  9. £30 but he's a client and friend of mine. Usual charge is £35 to £45 depending on how pretty she is ;)

  13. Paid the full £54, with free retest.

  14. 45 i think but that includes the local vw bloke actually taking it for the mot not sure about the re test as i ve not had one fail YET
i know that puts me on borrowed time though

  15. Actual cost i pay is £50 but includes any basic silly work and its taken to the garage by my mate the mechanic

  16. I pay 45 quid at my local garage which is a local in a small town job

  17. My now friend charges the full £54 but like some of you guys and little silly jobs like a bulb or wiper gets done. Have used the same guy for years and he has come and rescued the wife when the clutch cable snapped on the bus within the hour and got us out of trouble at the drop of a hat various times over the years, always take the garage a cheep crate of beer round whenever they bail us out and they then always go out their way to help any time.

  19. The time I paid £30 for an mot and took 2 cars they both failed on loads of bits like gaiters even though most were done the year before. :(
Then they gave me a crap price to fix.
Now I pay abit more and go to a garage that don't do the repairs. You know then they're not looking to get any more work out of you.

  20. Blimey all the garages round here charge the full whack and don't offer any 'easy fixes' free.
