  1. Well here is Heulwen's new younger brother - Llewelyn (or Llew for short, which is Welsh for Lion). Bought him as a winter run-around but I think he's inadvertently become my second project!

He was a little rough around the edges when I got him but nothing a bit of TLC can sort out. I absolutely love it! Never owned a car with so much grunt and its so fun to drive!

  3. @brucieboy Cheers! Yeh, the plate can be interpreted in a few ways which I quite like - came with the car which was a bonus! I'm going to swap over the de-badged grill for a proper GTI one though as don't really like it.

Still got a few things left to sort out, got a leak coming in to the rear nearside footwell; jumpy speedo (swapped speedo cable for a new one but still not working properly); electrics for rear wiper and demist not working; and the usual rust spots on sills and rear lower valance. Needs a good cut and polish too as paint is bit faded in places. Will keep me busy and out of trouble I suppose!

  4. lol, they always keep you busy, mines for sale at the mo if the right offer comes along, been offered 900 for it so may take it, I have replacement rear glass if you need it? If it's the glass thats the issue for the de mist? i got a leak coming into the boot, think its the rear window washer jet entering somewhere when washers applied but the hunt continues lol!

  5. Water leaks are a pain in the aris. Had water coming in the boot also but traced it to a perished light cluster seal and rubber where the wiring is near boot lid hinge. Think water in footwells is coming in via doorcards.

Somehow managed to get demist to work tonight, but thanks for the offer. Just the wiper to fix! I picked mine up for £600 off a friend of a friend but obviously dont know what condition yours is in? Got any pics?

  6. its in pretty good nick, by no means perfect but mostly original, its done 170 k but still going strong, 1.6 GTD 5 door, IMG_0023 .jpg
Heres the only image I have of him, it was my girlfriends when we met, we had a minor accident in him, fixed him then sold him to our mate for 600, then last year bought it back off of him for 600 quid but had an offer of 900 quid last week so think we'll get rid again lol, rear light seals may be the issue here too, where did you get yours from?

  7. Very nice! Looks decent. Mines all original and similar - 160k on clock. £300 profit isn't bad! Not sourced seals yet so in the interim used some black silicon window sealant - seems to have sorted it for now!
