Mk1 golf head lights in a bay ?

I know most people are putting mk1 golf head lights into there bays as they fit but I have a spare set of mk2 golf head lights and the only difference is the mounting holes witch I can make fit .
But there is a gap around the Crome cover is this the same with the mk1 head lights as well .

I don't really want water going past my head light cheers ash

 

Even with "proper" headlights, water will get past - there's no seal.
