Metal fuel pipe - cracked

  1. Hi all..

I've been putting my engine back in after doing another flywheel seal & a new alternator install , thought i was getting somewhere , then last job was attaching the fuel hose from the tank to the metal fuel pipe from the engine...next thing we have a lovely smell of petrol and a nice puddle under the engine..so closed the hose with a pair of hose cut off pliers (top buy) and put a M6 bolt in the hose for back up , then removed metal fuel pipe , which had a long split in it...pics below , the rear tinware has a new (ish) rubber gromment so this has not caused this split , I just think it is poor quality in the first place... so just wondering where the rest of you happy campers get quality metal fuel pipe from ?? this one was only a few years old and haven't used the van much in these years , its a standard pipe that all the "vw" shops sell.

    cheers

you could just put some rubber pipe over the crack with 2 jubilee clips, or cut out the split and joint with rubber or run the whole line in rubber. that looks to have broken from being twisted around to many times
