  1. So today is the day, Chris our mechanic came round to take Luu back to his workshop for fettling in preparation for spring camp. I picked him up and he was round at our house for 10:15, He then told me he'd booked an MOT for 12:00 to assess what needed doing

We haven't seen the front in a while!

At the end of the alley waiting to go - she's still running ;D

and she's stopped, thats our house in the background :(

Chris reckoned she'd probably run out of fuel, The last time she was at the garage I had a new fuel sender fitted and had to put £30 worth of fuel in to test it, since then she'd been driven for 45mile so I thought it can't be that - Guess what fuel can and fuel later she started. How is that possible, by my calculations thats 5 miles per gallon  surely she does more than that, if not I'll be camping VERY close to home!!

anyway after putting fuel in she was fine

She's now having her MOT and i'm sat nervously awaiting the results, I'll keep you all posted...........

  4. I swear the fuel evapourates when there sat for a while
I put £20 of fuel in mine at the end of summer and when i came to start her yesterday the guage read empty and she took 5 litres from the spare can to get her to fire

good luck with the mot - hope it goes well & your sorted for Spring Camp!

  6. Good luck loopy luu

  7. Good luck with the mot.

Every time you start up and run the van for a few minutes it uses quite a bit of fuel because it's on choke.
On short journeys the first mile or so is probably 5 to 10 mpg then as the engine warms up and the choke comes off averages come back up.

Did you put the £30 in yourself or did the garage do it?

    Any spam carvings???

  13. well the results are in and she failed :( but Chris seems to think its nothing major. Anyway the stuff he mentioned:

    1. Headlight Aim
    2. Indicators flashing too fast
    3. rear lights not correct (this is probably due to the fact that the previous owner fitted all red American spec lenses and changed the reverse lights to indicators using orange bulbs - i'd like to keep it this way as it looks cool so I hope Chris can sort it :))
    4. Play in steering, this needs new bushes - I think Chris said something about the central hydra?!?!
    5. Weak handbrake
    6. Rear brake pipe corroded (actually very annoyed about this as a well known mechanic in Mcr said he replaced this 18 months ago :)
    7. Front chassis member has a rusty bit.

  14. Not too bad a list to get back, Did your mechanic manage to shed any light on the lack of fuel? could be a very small leak on a joint over 18 months a very very small leak will lose alot of fuel and you wont really see anything under the van as it drips and evaporates. Worth checking anyway.

The rear lights are not a fail. I have those on mine with the indicator I'm the reverse light. As long as there is a clearly visible amber flashing light there is no fail.
