If you want the authentic Unimog or indeed 4x4 LT* experience you can get a 'fix' for this habit periodically, far cheaper.

You'll need a fairly docile river, but it needs size able rocks, a cricket bat and a large galvanized bin, the bin lid - oh and a chair.


Put the chair in the river, sit on it and grip the bin lid tightly but with thumbs on the outside of the rim, then simply throw yourself off it onto the rocks, make sure its bum landing first, but if not, make sure its an elbow or wrist or even your head - make sure you do not let go of the bin lid.

When not sat in the river, sit on the chair with the bin over your head and allow a friend to smack the outside of the bin with the bat, repeatedly. You can shout about having a good time and angle of attack, what makes a good winch etc.

And repeat - but just before getting home, throw yourself into a muddy field, make sure it gets right up your bum crack and into your wellies or other footwear of choice.

Whilst this option is tempting it lacks the excitement of , what’s that new noise ? Did I break something ? Will it stop me from getting home, how much will that cost, will I need recovery, this all adds to the overall experience

Been looking ever since the LT went and now have a couple of replacement options

 

Second option a nice Petrol engined restored LT 4x4, that also has lpg
Going to look at the mog next week to see what it’s like
