Lowered rear shock

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by colinvw, Feb 27, 2016.

  1. I've just turned the rear spline by 1 notch and my rear shocks don't look the most healthiest. Might as well change while all apart.
Gsf have 42% off this weekend. Would you suggest standard rears now a couple of "s lower or would i need a new size?

Also anyone got a unused ns rear torsion bar cover? Mine rotten in places.

    Thanks

i would take shocks off, put van on ground to measure between shock mounts, and get a shock that is fit for purpose. Although, i havent done this yet, that is the correct instruction.

  3. Cheers PSG. Sounds like a plan. Just need to get some new nuts/bolts & put it all back together..

For a one spline drop you won’t need shorter dampers. Remove one lump off the bump stop.

  5. Yep, chopped one lump from bump stump. Would of loved to put new shocks on, but have the bolt from hell. Even a new impact wrench isn't shifting it. Another can of penetrating oil. If that fails, it will be path of no return.......angle grinder
