Louvred window catch repair

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Starryboy, Jan 4, 2013.

  1. Has anyone had to fix one of these before or got any suggestions on how too. It keeps popping out. I've tried flaring it over with a hammer but there's nothing left to keep it together. I did think about pop rivets but I'm not sure there is enough room in the casing to fit a rivet.

Having said that I may have to look for a spare one! Cheers.

  4. That's the joint I need to fix. The bracket fitted through the hole and was hammered over. This has worn and won't stay joined any more. I'm at a loss on how to repair.

  5. might you be able to drill out and fit a rivet instead? I know you can get countersunk rivets these days.

  6. Yeh good call. The hole diameter is 6mm and the rivet would need to be at least 7-8mm long. I'm having trouble finding one.

  8. Thanks poptop. Looking now. I won't let this beat me :)

  9. If you are not in a rush and could do a drawing as to your requirements I could turn you something up on my lathe (just for the cost of postage).
If you could remove carefully the pin and then measure it I can re-make it.

  10. Ill stick some pics up tomoz. There is no pin. It's hard to explain but hopefully pics will. Cheers for now peeps.
