It's wonderful, very compact so easy to walk around. Lots of lovely old buildings, the Walker Gallery, World Museum, beautiful old circular reading room at the library. Fresh air rolling in off the sea. Birth place of the best pop group in the history of music ever, friendly locals. The Baltic Fleet pub.

Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle, all great Northern cities but my favourite is Liverpool

  7. I prefer living in London these days. I've learnt all about how to drink shandy in pint glasses.

  8. Agree with everything you say but how did Leeds get into this list? Typo?

  9. Have you been to The Bluecoats and the old blind school cafe and paddy's wig wam and the tall ships and the docks

  10. You forgot the Museum of Expensive Alloy Wheels. Well worth a visit.

  13. The Lutyens Vaultwork to the foundations to Paddys Wigwam is out of this world. Well worth a visit along with the Victorian museum, adjacent to Paddys wigwam site where you'll discover that Liverpool was the initial base for what became the manhattan project.

If architectures your thing Liverpool is second only to London for the sheer amount of listed buildings.

But most people come for one thing and one thing only.......

..... half chips half fried rice with curry sauce all over the top.

  15. Been thinking about my short visit. I was there for less than 24 hours. Was given a bedless room, had the worst middle eastern food ive ever had, got grief off a bouncer for simply standing in the street trying to get some directions on my phone, got served grudgingly by the most miserable barmaid ive come across in years, got grief off some pi55ed up incoherent bloke in an irish pub, ended up waking up with stomach ache following the dodgy food and then had the pleasure of a 3 hour train ride home.

Always wondered why so many scousers leave the place!

The old blind school café? Not heard of it but like the sound of it. My lad lives on Queens Dock

  17. Sounds like my last trip to Paris, especially the food. City breaks are far too hit n miss. I prefer camping, nobodies ever nicked my bed. If you have to go again let me furnish you with a choice of decent pubs :) (and stick with curry n chips)

  18. Yer on! Especially the curry, chips and rice. If id known....... btw, this is all a bit tongue in cheek. Me being a woolyback and all that!
