Apparently the small leak & rust bubble around the seal of the window in Daisy-Mae's tailgate has resulted in a small swimming pool in the bottom of the wardrobe Matt took the rubber bung out the bottom of the wardrobe and emptied the pool over the works carpark! My sandals are to be sacrificed but it is hoped that a go through the washing machine will revive the picnic blankets. Thank goodness she is left hand drive and there is a slight camber to the road ... it does appear that the foam at the back is dry. She is off to the garage for a quote next week ... be it repair or replace the tailgate and get it sprayed up to match(ish) ... plus the two cab doors are going to get sorted as well (hopefully!).
We knew there was a small leak around the rust bubble / seal .. but hadn't thought to look in the bottom of the wardrobe, Matt was opening her up at work to have an air given the sun is out and found it!! But other than that she is running like a dream and starts first time! and you would hope so too given that in the last two years she has had new starter motor, new carbs, new engine, new fuel lines, new wiring from ignition to starter motor (not necessarily in that order!) ... guess the advice would be think before buying a camper that has only done a few hundred miles in the previous 5+ years! Although we did know that she hadn't gone far ... she had been in a movie company storage lock up with other bits and bobs from films before being purchased by someone who worked for the film company! Plus we have had lots of fun weekends away and holiday's in her too over the last two years!!
the first we knew of a leak in the tailgate seal was wet feet after a night of torrential rain when we were camping a few years back, that made for an interesting weekend
Oh no! At least you slept with your feet towards the tailgate ... otherwise it would be a wet face Hopefully will know the cost of getting it sorted by the end of Tuesday.
I get an intermittent tailgate leak which soakes the rear curtains and I have woken up with a wet head before now. In *******istent rain I employ geffer tape across the top tbh!
