  3. I've been sorting out all my recyclables lately.
I haven't been shot at or had any bomb threats.
Charlie could be onto something here.

  4. Ah the Spencer machinations....something they've been very good at for at least a couple of centuries...wealth and power by the back door. Sorry no time for them, different world to that of us peasants.

I heard it on the radio and 1st thought was oh my what are you saying......however, there prob is something somewhere in his comments that may be applicable.
I imagine oil rather than altruism is behind interest in foreign places. In the future I think fresh water may become another factor. This could be affected by climate change. Will our future alliances be decided by who will supply us with fuel/water etc

  6. The media never let facts cloud their judgement when it comes to a good scaremongering story. There is a distinct lack of scientists / engineers in the media and all of those floaty types seem unable to question what is fed to them by various pressure groups and just air it as 'facts' in spite of the gaping holes in their arguments.

  9. Weather changes. People in other 'dry' countries don't have civil wars, they manage their resources better. Brutal dictatorships have a habit of taking their eye off the economic ball to focus on keeping in power, but it's a downward spiral as they struggle to keep the lid on discontent and by doing so create more discontent as the economy crumbles.
