  1. Well Kermits heart has returned from its trip to Laurie Petitt in Scotland, it's had open heart surgery and a course of steroids and been rebuilt to 1776cc with new barrels & pistons, new heads, crankshaft and cam shaft bearings re jetted carbs and carb insulators so here's a few pics of the refit so far.

Heat exchangers now in place, hopefully I can get the oil cooler, tin wear, external oil filter and oil cooler fitted today, weather permitting.
I wouldn't have got any of this done yesterday without the help of my dear daughter, Thank you Steph.

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Mango - Sorry to say you'll not get the fan housing on once you've fitted the oil cooler. Seriously, you'll have to take it back out for this... :(

They aren't heavy, build up the whole thing, exhaust and all, then fit. Have a nice day. :)

  4. Yep found that out the hard way , not done one before, engine been back out this morning, oil cooler and fan housing on. put back in then fitted carbs and foam seal. External oil filter fitted, additional oil cooler mounted but rain threatens so packed back in garage. Going to try and pipe up oil filter and cooler later.

  6. On top of the world at the moment.
Finally finished installing Kermit's new heart and after priming the external oil filter and cooler I connected up the fuel pump and after few turns of the key Kermit's heart had a heart beat. Just needs a little TLC to get it running smoothly and then I can get ready for the MOT.
