I hate my daily drive  it's been nothing but a pain in the arse this last few months only little things but niggly and i just c.b.a. with it, i used to love fiddling with cars and i almost looked forward to a problem to tinker with, these days i'd rather run a cheese grater down my balls than even open the bonnet and this bleeding fiesta is getting on my nerves, last sunday i pulled up at a shop and turned off the engine, did shopping, got back in car and started it, a massive vibration noise was coming from behind the dash so i fixed that by turning the radio up loud....as the week went on it got worse so i lifted it up with a fork lift at work and went under it, i found that the power steering pipes seemed to be vibrating so i presumed a clip had broken and soon had the pipes silent with magic cable ties......then on thursday the noise came back along with a "chirruping" from the power steering pump and belt i left it and thought i'd look at it today, so earlier i thought i would fix it with wd-40  this however didn't work longer than 2 minutes so under duress i fetched my ramps and set about getting ready to go under to investigate.....ramps in position......turn key start engine and BANG! alternator light on no power steering......quick look underneath reveals power steering pump hanging off and belt hanging next to it! GRRRR! so i made sure the belt wouldn't get stuck and pulled up the ramps, a quick inspection revealed the pump is bolted to a bracket that is bolted to the engine by 3 bolts one of which was virtually off one of which had snapped in two and the 3rd one was just lying in a recess by the alternator, it took me ages to get the pump off the bracket as it was floating about and the bolts were tight and rounded off by the previous bodger i had to remove the headlight and grille to get into one bolt it was a bleedin' nightmare and i learnt the car is called bast****..... eventually i got to the bracket to discover that somebody had previously bodged it and had just mounted the bracket with 2 bolts and ledged one in where a previous bolt had sheared to make it look like 3 were holding it this had worked for ? months (i've had it since March) but i thought i would try and get the 3rd one in so i stripped the alternator out and took the bracket for that off so i could see the 3rd hole..found it had a snapped bolt in it that had been mutilated by someone trying to get it out, the bolt hole was a right mess (into the ally block) i tried drilling it and all sorts but the damage done by the previous bodger was too much so i had to admit defeat and leave it, so ive put it back together with 2 new bolts and the 3rd one has been pushed in the hole with no more nails all over the threads, i have been out bodged by the previous bodger so i repaired it the only way i know....rebodge better bodge.....i now know how the person who bought my old landrover must feel about me for bodging that so i've been negative karma'd by the big man.

  4. Best bet is to avoid bodges except in a get me home emergency. I only ever tempory bodge & never sell on a bodge as it always comes back to bite you. ::)
