joint for fuel smells to carburettor ..

  1. I'm having a manopause moment and can't even bring to mind a suitable search string in order to find what im looking for. Help me with the terminology?

I'm looking for the fitment that i can drill into the top of my weber air filter in order to put a hose in to take the fuel vapours out from the tee peice.
    90 degree sould be neatest.
I have an idea that it should be plastic in case the nut falls into the carbs but i guess thats just overthing/worrying.

what on earth are they called?

You asked the question, I realised I didnt remember either.

start with Google "threaded hose tail 90 degree" and work forwards.

I wouldnt worry over much about using plastic instead of metal. If you use plastic, be careful to choose a plastic that can withstand possible temperatures above a hot engine on a hot day just after shut off.

Use a metal fitting and loctite the thread and do it up properly.

Try ‘engine breather’. https://classiccarbs.co.uk/product/...-re-circulating-gas-air-filter-inlet-manifold It won’t melt, unless your engine is on fire.

If you have cast air filter covers just drill and tap, you don’t need a nut inside the filter. If you have tin covers I wouldn’t fit a metal nut. EDIT: Unless the thread is peened so the nut can’t drop into the engine. :)

  4. Also called hose barbs. If you have a nut on the inside, peen the thread so the nut can't drop into the engine.
