We're not trying to trick people or catch them out - if we're selling van covers that we know aren't waterproof to people who think they are, we're just going to end up with a whole load of soggy van covers in our returns department, loads of angry customers and a product with a truly rubbish reputation. We've sold literally thousands of the covers and had such a tiny number of emails about confusion over whether they're waterproof or not (points of a percent) that we've never before had need to include 'Not Waterproof' in to the description, but I'll pass it on to our customer service team to review as they'll have records of how many other customers have been confused about whether or not they're waterproof and be able to change the description. Also rickyrooo1, I believe the flaps over the zips are just to offer them some level of protection from the elements so they're not exposed to ice, snow, wind, solar flares (probably) and the rest, so the zips will still get wet but they're less likely to get damaged and seize, rendering the 'doors' on the cover unuseable. Hamilton covers are awesome, but they're over £200 (I think) so ours were made as a cheaper alternative if you just want something to keep the bird poop off for a while because you've just cleaned your bus and birds have a 6th sense for that! When I had a cover on my Bay the roof rack created a small pool on the top which birds used to bath in! Thanks Josh
josh i'm only "joshing" lol you're on to something there - the zips will be rainproof so they don't freeze or rust etc i'd imagine....... Moons has one of these covers - he puts a football on the westy roofrack so the birds can do one from his house!
Thought so, I was looking to see if they'd have one to fit my Beetle, but I figured I'd be better off spending the money on practical stuff like brakes and seat belts
... That's a really good idea, why didn't I think of that?! I knew you were probably just joshing Although I must admit I don't get the blaming Camperjam thing
when camperjam was a rainy mess of crap last year a few of us used to put "I blame camperjam" for anything that went wrong/didn't work - I think hailfrank started it....
I blame camperjam. Plus the local scuffers nicked the soccer ball. I've always presumed the covers aren't waterproof...it keeps the worse off and acts as a slight theft deterrent Saying that it acts as a veritable magnet for scuffers wanting a free football. I'd recommend one based one though, been pleased with mine.
yeah josh we tried looking for your stall - reckon you'd sunk...... so I had to buy some bits off the other lot, they stuck it out.......
Did someone say intellectual property rights?? Don't advertise it as making your balls not attractive to birds though...
I was waiting for that Broken Britain I find the generous application of highly fashionable patina on my Bay serves the same effect - no point stealing something no one would drive Yeah thanks Moons, now I have to wipe tea off my laptop having just spat it everywhere laughing
Yeah thanks Moons, now I have to wipe tea off my laptop having just spat it everywhere laughing I've got a really good Heritage laptop splash proof cover if you want a recommendation
Your better off with no cover than a cover that let's your pride and joy get wet and stay wet ...... Sorry
Mine does the same thing as Oscar's. I really didn't realise they are not waterproof as I've never noticed it getting wet underneath. I can only speak as I find and I've been really impressed with mine. In fact as soon as mine ages and starts to fail I was just going to buy another. Are those that leak from a different supplier or a poor batch?
I have no issues with mine - and if you care to do a search you'll find Jestermans ever helpful hint as to how to put one of these on uber quick ;0) '
I used one or years. Yes, if we had a prolonged period of rain it would let water through but generally for £100 it was good value. It's not really an issue if your bus get wet is it? Just let it blow through every week or so and you'll have no problems. If you want to keep your bus bone dry spend £200+ on a decent cover or build a garage.
We did have a poor batch ages ago, so it could be one of the last few rubbish ones (we tracked most of the poor batch down, I think) that Volkswombat has ended up with, but I can't honestly remember when the faulty batch came in - it was probably about 3/4 years ago! I think I'm only just old enough to remember who Mr. Benn is
I remember when I was a lad, in an era when all cars rotted, "Which" magazine did a survey/test to determine the best conditions to keep a car in. Top marks went to carports because they keep the rain off and also allow ventilation for it to dry when you've been out and about. Better than a garage apparently. Added bonus is the windows are never iced up in the winter. I can vouch for the last one.
