Recently the inside of the poptop in my westy is covered in frost every morning which when it melts rains over everything (which then freezes the next night). I've got one of those condensation traps (the sort with the crystals in it) which absorbs a fair bit of moisture but its still raining in there. Think i need some sort of lining on the underside of the bare firbreglass?
Have a word with @Lardy he got the below for mine. 2.4m and 2 cans of spray for around £40 then you got fitting on top.
we put boxes of silca stuff and plates of salt in Wilma to absorb the moisture. She's got a fibreglass roof too. Careful with the flock stuff the condensation is still there just trapped away and it looks vile when it gets moldy
Even the silver bubble style insulation will work. I had a single uninsulated patch where the skylight was replaced with tin so I stuck some up to stop ice falling on passengers as it melted. I also have a £100 electric dehumidifier which half fills its tank overnight in the bus. So I cannot imagine any of the little crystal based dehumidifiers doing anything useful. Also the dehumidifier chucks out up 300 watts of heat and blows the warm air around too. Both of which also help stop condensation.
Van lining carpet seems pretty cheap on ebay (though the postage will be a killer). Flexible enough to be easily moldable round the ribs on the underside of a westys roof too.
Me too. I also bought the spray adhesive from them (on Ebay). I cleaned the roof on the inside with meths and once it dried I glued it up in stages. @Zebedee I have the same roof as you and I removed the upper bed to do this to make access easier. Makes the upper bed a MUCH nicer place to be without my oldest getting dripped on!
Those dehumidifier kits are good but the stuff is bloody expensive. Use paper car litter it get a monster bag of cheap rice. Works a treat and you can cook it up afterwards
You can also find all manner of 'reusable' stuff online like this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-MOIST...arden_Hearing_Cooling_Air&hash=item58a7e5c4f3
I sold the upper bed a couple of years ago to fund some repairs so any drips now just end up on the floor/table/sink etc.
