Ok, so windows did it's update thingy & now my laptop won't boot up .... arrgghh!!! It has tried to run a start up repair & that seems to say it can't fix it. The only bit I can understand in the details is 'a patch is preventing the system from starting' ... thanks Microsoft ... seems their patch / update has broken my laptop! Anyone know anything about IT stuff & can help me at all ... the computer repair shop in Towcester will be closing now-ish & I need to collect Freya from after school club. Thanks
will it start in safe mode? press f2 or f5 repeatedly quite fast while it boots up, but saying that if you get in i dunno what you can do so best ignore me soz! someone less stupid will know.
Think theirs alot of c rap going on on windows at mo, ive had issues and theirs lots of trip ups out their ,its getting worse with all these cookies etc trying to get your money .
F8 isn't helping F4 is the Samsung recovery solution ... I tried a basic windows restore & that didn't work. Next step is a complete windows restore which says I may need to restore software afterwards ... eek!! Is that easy enough to do? Data & file wise all is ok as my hard drive is partitioned so D shouldn't be affected plus it is backed up in the cloud so worse case I have to restore it. But windows is on through c drive so d should be ok .... I think! Sooooooooooo .... do I do a complete windows restore?!? I'm scared to click yes in case it explodes! Thanks
If you reinstall windows using the restore partition everything in C: drive will be be wiped, documents and programs. What is happening when you try to boot up?
It comes up with "windows error recovery" windows failed to start & then performs a start up repair where it tells me it can not repair the computer automatically & asks if I want to send the info to Microsoft. There is a view problem details drop down arrow to click & that says: Problem signature Problem event name StartupRepairOffline Problem signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385 Problem signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385 Problem signature 03: unknown Problem signature 04: 21200540 Problem signature 05: AutoFailover Problem signature 06: 11 Problem signature 07: BadPatch OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Might as well be in Zulu as it means nothing to me But full c drive restore sounds drastic ... might wait on that! Data is all on d drive & backed up but software is on c drive. Thanks.
Tap F8 (repeatedly) at Startup/power on, and from list of Startup options, select Safe mode by using the UP Arrow Key> then hit ENTER. 1. Do a System Restore to before the Updates: Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Put it back in time/pick your own date > Next Also: 2. Click Start > Right-click Computer > Properties > Windows Updates down the bottom left corner > Installed Updates in bottom left corner in next window > then click which one you do not want > Uninstall will appear at the top > Uninstall it.
