I wouldn't want one, you can't lean your elbow out of the window, the occupants look trapped inside, invariably hunched over to see below the peak. Nutters.

  2. Got this engine in my work van and it’s never missed a beat. It even survived the cam belt going. 150k miles and it’s just about run in.

  3. Sounds quite promising as a conversion then!

It’s a simple engine , no electronics, nice and compact , reliable, And cheap can’t go wrong

  5. From the previous comments it could be a bit of a chew shoehorning one into a bay, which maybe explains the lack of info out there. I am mulling the idea as I have a long trip planned next year and it could effectively double my fuel economy and pay for itself very quickly.

If I ever did a swap I would use this engine. Daydreamed about it for years. Don’t think I ever will though. Just add the cost of fuel in to the holiday budget.

  9. Have you seen any info online about the conversion? Haven't turned up anything so far.

No, I think you would have to make everything from scratch. I only thought of this engine because I know it so well. There may be better options out there.

The 8 valve engine needs the tappets done at least every 20,000 miles so you would need to bare that in mind
