  1. Trying to sell my car and got this email below (sold car now anyway)

    Hello,
Thanks for your quick response and am also excited to hear from you the vehicle is still available for sale and thanks for the details you just gave about the vehicle and am quite delighted to hear from you that the vehicle is still in great conditions.Since all the details you put on the advert are updated and real,i think there is nothing to worry about and also i want you to know that i won't be able to come for the inspection of the car as am a very busy man here in Switzerland.I have shown my wife the car and she really likes it and i think that is all i need to hear from her,so you have nothing to worry about.

I will make an offer of £3900 which I think is fair enough for the car because i know the worth of the vehicle and more so what you’ ve stated about the vehicle details in the advert page and the maintenance of the vehicle you’ve spent so far since you bought the vehicle.

I will take care of the shipment I had already consult a private shipping company who’s going to handle it professionally for me both the shipping cost and other necessary activities concerning the shipment of the vehicle.

My preferred method of payment is by bankers draft or Cheque in a (GBP) that’s the only option and safest way for me to transfer CASH which am going to instruct my business associate to post you a bankers draft via post office.

The bankers draft is going to clear in your bank within 3 to 5 working days days before i shall take the possession of the vehicle .
Hopefully to hear back from you today in order to proceed further with the payment and shipping arrangements as soon as possible.
Bankers draft only required your FULL NAME and your POSTAL ADDRESS.
I did NOT request for your bank details.
In my next email i shall let you know the details that is required from you to enable the bankers draft gets to you by post office.
I look forward to hear back from you today.
    Cheers.
    Andrew Williamson.

  2. I had a buyer from Switzerland for the last car I sold, very similar email, and I even posted on here about that it seemed a con...........well I refused to deal with a third party company and said if he wanted it, I wanted cash and he would have to collect in person.............he flew over the week later and as far as I know, drove it back, so, it might be legit, mine was. (and when I took him on the test drive which he did not ask for, I stopped at a bank and got them to check the notes)

  3. rickyrooo1

rickyrooo1 Hanging round like a bad smell

I reckon so, the grammar is shocking, i picture the guy off fonejacker reading it out....

  4. I can't comment on the grammar as mine is not much better.

  5. BE CAREFUL, I had a reply to an Flea Bay add some thing like that. They sent me a bank draft, that was to include the shipping. Asked me to cash the draft and pay the shipper from the difference.

I took the draft to the bank, asked them to check it (although they checked once and said it was good) the second time they found that THE BANK DRAFT WAS FAKE. If I would have kept going the scammer would have had the difference $ (sent to the "shipper") and the bank said they would have charged my account for the full amount of the draft and may have grounds to charge me with fraud, for having anything to do with the fake bank draft.

    Good Luck !!!

  6. When I sold my MG the boy who bought said my dads paying for it he lives in Greece. My being synical thinks yea right pee off and don't waste my time. That night his dad came up with the money.
So sometimes what seems a bit dodgy might not, but there agin it could be.

Grammar what's that's is it that old grey wrinkly thing in her rocking chair knitting in the corner.

  7. Is this another con? Of course it is. The attempted sting follows in the next message.

  8. Hey folks. I won't go into details, but just out of interest I thought I'd mention that, right now, I'm helping someone pick up the pieces after being scammed. You'll never believe how much for. Try £400k. 'K' stands for 'thousand' of course. Enought to ruin someone's life don't you think? Scammers are scum.

  12. if there is ever any doubt just stay clear is probably the best advice :)

  13. Beware that is a SCAM. The cheque will clear after 3 days and the guy will take the car. But after a week or so the cheque will bounce back. If in doubt, then don't. Plenty of other buyers out there. Tell the guy to take a hike back to Nigeria. I nearly got caught 10 yrs ago selling my Katana. Fortunately i explicitly talked to my bank about the cheque clearing and got confirmation that it was fine and that it was safe. Then a week later it bounced. You see they send more than the value of the vehicle on the cheque and ask you send the rest back via a wired transaction. They are only interested in this, not the vehicle. Ie they sent me £5k for the bike but i only asked £3.6 and sent the £1.4k back via western union wired transfer. Fortunately this happened as the bank and their detectives watched and they traced it and arrested the guy in Nigeria.

    BEWARE!

  14. Yeah, another scam going on right now is folk paying for stuff by credit card. I don't know how it works exactly but an associate of mine was recently ripped off this way. Apparently, what happens is this: a purchaser (the skum crook) buys the goods (a car for example) using a credit card, or several credit cards. Somehow, they pay the amounts directly to the seller's own credit card account. Obviously, somehow, they'd convinced the seller to accept this method of payment. And all seems well for a while, 6 months even. Then, somehow, the payments are withdrawn.
