Interior options?

  1. I’ve just taken my bus to the painters for a quote for a respray

My interior is unfortunately passed it’s best and I’m looking for inspiration. I’d love to see some of the pictures of inside your vans.

I’m wanting to upgrade to a full width double rock n roll bed but unsure what cupboards will fit. Any advice, suggestions and things you wished you’d done appreciated ☺️

Here’s an option that works well with a full width bed

  3. It depends what are you are doing with your bus. The interior pictured above is nice but we would ruin it with the type of camping we do.

I would start with the bed, as big and comfortable as you can make it. If you like the stock look, a lot of your original stuff can probably be salvaged. You could hunt down some used Westy stuff and fit it..depending on what works for you. Some of the original furniture layouts were brilliant, some were really clunky and wasted space.

  4. Interior needs designing around how you actually camp.

How many of you are there?
Do you cook inside or outside?
How long do you go away for at a time?

I've always had a full width bed.
When young I had a very open interior with a captains passenger chair and another seat behind driver seat.

I could get loads of people in it for music & drinking etc. I didn't cook in it ever so just had various external cooking options.

Then started going away for longer camping trips with my partner, so installed a swing out Devon cooker. We Still mainly cook outside, but if it's raining we can cook inside.

Full width bed does limit your storage, but I wouldn't be without it.

Have a look at some full width beds in westy Berlin interiors.

  5. While the Dormobile doesn't have the best layout ever (I think that accolade goes to one of the Westy's) it does kinda have a full width bed, if you know the trick with a couple of extra bits of foam covered in matching fabric, one foam brick goes over what is supposed to house the weird shaped cooler, and another goes over the spare tyre area. I don't know if you can do this with other interiors. The only changes to the original interior are the cooler cupboard doesnt have a cooler in it (used to store the bedding) and the original huge sink has been replaced with a Smev combination sink/hob which is great for simple meals but most importantly for making coffee... The original Dormobile cooker in the front passenger seat is also missing, but I do wonder if folks actually really got on with them at all. I think the Devon swing out cooker was probably a better idea. I think I'm going to acquire a Son of Hibachi BBQ for this year. Those things rock for outdoor grilling.
