I'm as stumped as a tree stump at a pirate convention

  1. just been out to the van to find a puddle of water sitting on the rubber cab mat. about quarter of a pint. no sign of any other water runs or dribbles from above or to the side. no water marks on anything directly above (dashboard, steering wheel) front or back and no water stains inside the windscreen. The roof is solid and the headlining in bone dry.

its as if it has bubbled up from below but that is all rubber matting. no one was in it yesterday when I washed it (without water - used one of those funky spray cleaner things) and it hasnt rained since.its far too much water to have collected off anyone shoes.

i wouldnt have thought it was warm enough for the water to evaporate however it got it in. the windscreen reservoir is still full as well.

I'm going to have to do one of those "Most Haunted" sit ins to actually see what happens.

  2. through your light fittings maybe?? x

Have you wet yourself again?

  4. Is your washer system the old pressurised one? Maybe the pipe has leaked under the steering wheel switch?

Definitely water I presume...not something silly, like a leaky bottle of water stashed behind the brake fluid reservoir...otherwise I guess it's a case of see if it returns...

  6. it rained when you was doing sleep stuff

I'd go with this if it's driver side. It's very difficult for water to get on top of the cab matt, most leaks end up with water underneath it. Windscreen is the only other likely possibility.

  8. Have you got speakers in the door cards? Could be the plastic membrane behind them is missing / perished. Water ingress that way.

  9. Right - no sign of water through light fittings - new door cards went on just afore xmas and no sign of water from door to centre of floor. Water in washer bottle hmmmm but the water is on top of the mat and would have had to project itself through the kick board. I've checked my trousers and no sign of outage there either and no random bottles laying around. I've talc'ed the floor this PM so I can track where its coming from. I need tracking tips from paradox :)

    Imallowedout likes this.
  10. Mine does a similar thing water gets down beside glass falls to bottom of door splashes up comes through vent in door panel runs along side of seat on top of rubber mat down onto floor, must get some new external scrapers to stop water getting in,

Water is supposed to wash through the doors and will even with new scrapers. When I had no door cards I used to get quite wet driving in the rain. What you need is a polythene membrane on the door, tucked in at the bottom so the water stays in the door without damping your cards and exits through the large drain hole in the base which is outside the main door seal. Hope that helps.

  12. ^this. No tucked-in membrane, and you'll have water through the door vents.

Re Mabel: I'd put money dripping from the washer connection on the steering column. Can't think where else it would come from.

  13. Thanks for that it is one them jobs I have got to do when the weather gets warmer, would you recommend a good coat of waxoyl in the bottom of door first,
    Steve,

  14. Zed's clarified what I was alluding to....top man.

  15. my membrane is all in place but the washer connector - hmmmmmmm!! 0h well it will have to wit now, back to work in the morning and i've talc'd the floor and put down some towels just in case. Thanks everyone.

  16. Do you have an under dash tray fitted?

Simple remedy, cut 10mm off the end of the tube and put it back on the switch.

  18. nope - im a frayed knot

  19. or empty the washer bottle - i've never used it anyway:)
