  4. I’ve looked forward to these being available since they showed the first concept. Trouble is they floated a potential price back then of maybe 30-35k iirc, whereas now it’s north of 60k which is just bonkers for a family car and well out of my price range.

I’m a big fan of innovation and modern tech, love our electric bmw i3 which gets used for 99% of family journeys, charges for free in the summer off our solar and has zero road tax. It’s no good for longer journeys though and isn’t big enough to carry all 4 of us plus dogs and luggage so I still have my old civic diesel estate, and obvs the camper too for holidays.

ID buzz could replace the Honda but that’s worth nothing at 160k miles, maybe 3-4k so I’d need to find 50k from somewhere - never going to happen.

considered selling the t2 as well as the Honda but I’d still be 25k short and the buzz is not something you can realistically camp in.

I looked at leasing - cheapest I could find was the van version at c300 quid per month. I think that makes more sense vs the passenger version as a potential camper as it’s empty inside so you could kit it out how you want. No Windows though.. pass

  5. warranty by VW 8 years or 160.000 km, capacity less 70 % (as Tesla model 3 - only at bigger cars 240.000 km)
But many old EVs still have 90% plus at around 160.000 km - so the guarantee is a pessimistic view.

So that's not my concern - rather whether there are still spare parts for the complex electronics

Many modern, economical VW turbo engines break down there at around 160.000 km with total engine damage - if not very well cared for and moved carefully. The VW guarantee does not go that far for these cars - typical only 2 years! If you book and pay for extra years also expensive service need to used - than max up to 8 years and 200.000 km.
