I need advice again and maybe some measurements.

  1. Right, as I haven't yet welded the Y-section arm back onto the chassis, so I need some measurements and maybe the datums from where they've been measured so the section is in the correct place. Maybe even the angle of the arm off the main leg.

Also maybe how far forward it comes, and maybe the distance from the centre line dimple in the valance to the inside edge of the arm. Wherever really so I can get the arm back on.

and should I just spread the beam to fit between the upper and lower or weld a vertical strip to join these two?

Sorry for all the Q's but I have nothing to measure myself as mine was all gone. I suppose I could use the passenger side but that isn't brilliant as the end has disappeared on that side too!

  2. Just realised when looking through my pics that I had a pic showing the old arm and it's relation to the front valance, the only issue I have now is how far forward the end of the arm should be in case I have gained or lost on the length when fabricating it?

I can work it out from here I think.

I'm not sure how far forward it comes though.
Is this about right? Does it make much difference?

Sorry cant elp with measurments but....

I'd say get yourself the lower valance and use this as your target/guide, as that has got to sit on within the bottom of the A pillars - I'm assuming there's enough of these left!

  4. Cheers Kruger.
The problem is threefold, my NS A pillar has no bottom (inner or outer closing plate), my OS A pillar inner has been extended down to the step but still needs a closing panel (front) to extend it down to meet the end of the A panel inner and the standard aftermarket early inner valance doesn't reach the A pillars and there is an extension piece which must be fitted. It's like balancing a bowl of jelly on every finger because I have to make it all up as I go along as none of it existed before I got the bus.

Another problem on this site is my bus is a crosssover so most of it is early.

I do however have a valance here so will see where we are tomorrow.

    Cheers for the advice anyway.
