Whooooooohoooooooo am off to Essex to pick Arthur's engine up tomorrow. Could have had it couriered back up, but getting a bit pushed for time to get it back in t'bus before Bearded Theory, so it's a lovely little 8 hour round trip for me tomorrow - getting home c. 9pm before having to get back up at 5am to drive the teenie to the ass end of nowhere to be pushed out of a plane
Fingers crossed you get a run of better luck with Arthur Zoe. I am sure he will fly with the new motor back in.
500 miles and several billions hour later, the engine is now back and safely ensconced in the garage waiting fitting. Engine builder showed me the offending article - a poorly cast camshaft from Scat (with the very, very tiniest of misalignments) which then in turn quickly damaged the cam followers and pushrods. Dropping the engine off at the garage on Monday for (another) new oil filter and a thorough washing through of the hoses, get the exhaust and the bar back on and then it'll be fitted back in on Wednesday. And I've just remembered the MOT is due. Bugger.
