  1. im thinking off buying a mini cooper for my daily run around ,any one on here own one and can point at anything i need to look out for thanks

  2. Hi mate,

I'm going to assume you mean one of the new ones....

I have had two. A Cooper and a Cooper D. I had the Cooper first and was hesitant when I then got a Cooper D. However, I was not disappointed. I am well impressed with diesel version. It has much more power/torque in a much more drivable place. With the petrol it certainly went like stink but only when you revved the tits off it. The diesel gives you a lot more fun power for driving round the roads. It's much better on MPG too!

They are great cars. Handle really well, more room inside than you might think too.

Unfortunately for you, mine are on a lease so I have only ever had a new one and changed it after two years so I don't know about common problems if there are any. I have had no problems with either of mine in the two years I owned them.

    Hope some of that helps.

    Nick

I absolutely love it - at £30 per year road tax, fuel consumption of 58+ mpg when in standard mode and not much less in sport mode, you cant go far wrong! Even the bluetooth works very well with an iPhone, something my old A3 would not do. Space wise, up front its great but not so when the kids are in too. Handling is excellent but the only downside is runflat tyres, you feel every manhole cover and because of this it skits around on the odd occaision

  5. I have a Mini Cooper Clubman (petrol) and it is by far the best car I've owned. Build quality is excellent, fuel consumption is high-ish at 38 mpg ( mainly country roads ) It feels quick. Handling is excellent except on 17 inch run flats you feel every bump. Theres loads of extras to personalise it. loads of room inside for a small car. Ive had mine a year with zero worries and services are every 20k or 2 years. Road fund is £100 a years but I think a bit higher on earlier models
the only thing that isnt good is the voice command for the radio

  6. my brother in law had a mini - then sold it to get a bmw - then sold that to get a mini again ...

by all accounts fun cars to have

  7. im looking at new and a classic one ,think owning one classic is enough but the old mini just looks great and ive had ago in a new one ,which was great too the other half says its down to me lol .
i haven't driven a old mini yet but then i never drove mertle till after i had bought it :D

  8. Fond memories of driving an old rusted out mini. Sod all room but so much fun to drive. Feels like your sitting on the road!

  10. I've had a couple, both brought second had, apart from the normal checks you should also look out for:

Oil leaks around the rocker cover
Worn coolant hoses at the rear of the engine bay by the heat shroud.
Rust around the rear cat converter/silencer
Front wheel camber - check the inside edge of the front tyres for excessive wear
Frontal damage, this is quite easy as any heavy front impact will have deformed the chassis by the engine mounts and these are quite easy to inspect from the engine bay.
Check gear selection - neutral into reverse and going from first to second (only really applies to the 5 speed boxes)

Oh and get one with the chilli pack

  11. I love your mini mini-bungle!

My first car was a proper mini, every day I wish I'd never sold it! It's probably been melted down and made into a teaspoon by now.....
