    I never said ‘fit one’.
Just a good alternative for fuel/gas prices. Petrol is easier to get than camping gas.

  2. Matlad was asking for alternative gas bottles to fit in a swing out Devon cooker and you suggested a Coleman dual burner it would be cheaper in the long run.

You need to be more thoughtful and expand on the context of suggestions you make especially when it comes to safety.

Over the years I’ve had to call an ambulance for someone that had used a Coleman single burner stove in a fishing bivvy and suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.

I’ve seen a bloke fall out of the back door of a van on fire because he was changing the gas canister on a lamp whilst someone was smoking in the van
Others in the van had burns as well

I’ve also seen one of those portable briefcase cookers that take the tall thin canisters explode and turn the cooker on a table into a ball of fire that had to be left untill the gas burnt out.

This sort of stuff is to be taken seriously and not *****ed about with.

    Pardon me.

  4. If your giving out advice that’s not well thought out or your not clear in your suggestions
It could end up with someone being killed, injured or costing them a lot of money/ruined camping trip.

That’s not something I’d want on my conscious

  5. No.

This is what you can fit in.

Many years ago I gave away the Calor cylinder under my Devon swing out cooker and converted to having a pair of 907 Camping Gaz. Two reasons - my boat used to have a 907 based gas cooker that was rightly condemned by a yacht surveyor as the cylinder just hung by the gas outlet thread, so I had a cylinder lying about.. the boat now has an Origo meths cooker . Stinky but safer.
And I preferred to know that when a cylinder ran out, there was a full cylinder sitting next to it. Despite the price.

  7. Are there two types of swing out cupboard then Mike?
Only Paul says two won’t fit yet your saying two will fit

Me either. But I used to do it all the time in my last van.
So I could guess it could go one of two ways.

  9. I'm probably wrong, when I looked at it to take the photo I thought I could probably get two in there.

  10. The earlier Devon wooden swing out cooker cabinet is possibly a bit wider.

Mike and I have the same style swing outs.

Mine should probably be an earlier wooden style one though

  11. Are you on a wind up?
You say you wouldn’t want it on your conscience
But because you’ve done something dangerous and got away with it your happy to tell others to do the same?

    Never mind, mate.
    Forget it.

  13. Interesting,

the German Westfalia "Berlin" had two 5 kg capacity standard gas cylinders made of steel with - so one in use, one in reserve behind.
grey = property bottle, also exchange bottle - or red = returnable bottle with deposit.
Filled with propane butane mixtures (Butan is not usable in winter below 0 C, Propan till -42 C).
They are enough for us for about 4 weeks of odorless cooking and sometimes (instead of 12 V or 230 V) cooling.
    A gas filling cost around 6 € (or 0.2 € per day) a few years ago - currently around 13 € (or 0.4 € per day).

So how long do you use such a blue gas cylinders?

In Germany, a Campingaz R907 2.75 kg filling (not the bottle purchase!) costs 36 € -
so French Campingaz is one of the most expensive solutions here

I refilled a 907 is France recently, €27. Expensive, but it is what it is.

  15. £23.10 then which is a lot cheaper than an exchange in Britain at £50.

If I was to use the gas heater at night as well as cooking each day a 907 would probably last a weekend so it’s going to get expensive quickly.

LPG is probably the best option.

  17. I've gone with Flogas. They do a 4.5kg butane which is pretty identical size to the calor. 60 quid odd for the first full bottle, then 20 odd for a refill. https://www.innergygasandequipment.co.uk/product/flogas-4-5kg-butane-gas-bottle/

I did look at refillable LPG cylinders and undermount tanks, but pretty long payback periods for me, and lots of people seem to be having issues with garages allowing you to fill them.

  18. I’m looking at their website and trying to figure out what the difference is between the leisure propane in the green bottle and the standard propane is in the red bottle
    Apart from the price

  19. Clip on reg Vs screw on I think.

  20. Is there some regulation stopping the use of screw on regs for leisure use?
