hydraulic cam lifters

Hi All probably a silly question but can the lifters be changed without taking the engine apart

 

Yes, if you are talking about a type 4 in a bay.

rocker shafts off, pushrods and tubes out, then a magnet on a stick to pull the lifters out

 

Easy change, but a few stories about mentioning new lifters eating cams.

what issues are you having with your current hydraulic lifters?

 

they do not seem to be working wanted to know so after i remove and clean them if possible

 

You’ll get some people saying it’s fine to put new lifters on an old cam

And others saying change them together
