Vegetarians have the option of a Tofu Wheel. It does nothing, but makes you feel like you care while you're doing it .
Haven't used it myself but I asked at the laminate place yesterday, what do I use if I get contact adhesive on the face. His answer was evostik adhesive remover, I think he said 191.
It well known that toffee contains the juice of rare beetles, who are mercilessly killed just so your Nan has something to chew.
That was kind of my point, but maybe a bit lost.......on the "let's not do chemicals" direction of the thread. Just trying to be all things........xylene, toluene, whatever. We made the stuff, lets use it! Yep, go with the recommendation, it'll be some "nasty chemical", probably a distillate of naphtha. My years with Bostik/Evode fly in the face of your toffee wheels and beetles.
Only kidding . Naptha, as I'm sure you're aware, is fairly unpleasant stuff: I used some PVC window cleaner (naphtha) to clean my plastic mouldings, and it mad me feel rather rough. I tried with with Evo-Stik remover, but it wouldn't shift VW's glue under the seats. In the end, I wire-wheeled it off. Surprisingly, the paint survived...
A nice mechanical removal option rather than a chemical one That's why I'd do the softening heat thing. However, if the toffee wheel doesn't work then the only option is to fight fire with fire
