not 100% sure, i am pretty certain one of them has to come off as the bolts are hidden, try taking the housing of as it not to difficult

Why so keen to remove the bar anyway?

  11. When I had my engine out last year I removed the engine bar and the mounts had disintegrated where they had come adrift from their plates and had been rubbing for who knows how long. Lots of bits on the floor. Engine felt much better with new ones. Thing was you could not tell anyhting was wrong with the engine in because the weight of the engine on them made it seem that they were sound.

  12. As doubledecker says, mountings are non existant, the brackets are red rusty and the studs have long gone, thats why I need to get the bar out, I noticed when I dropped the engine that the steady bar was moving freely...I reckon if I get off the small plates that cover the gap between the heat exch and the shroud the shroud will come off without moving the heat exch's, let you know tommorrow,

Sounds like a plan. You need to remove the fan housing to replace the mounts anyway. They do drop to pieces. Clutch take up will be smoother with new ones. :)

  14. If my memory can force itself back 12 months I recall that when installing the bar it is important to fix it before putting the right hand heat exchanger back or you can't get it in. Same problem getting it off. It has a dog leg in it to go around all the engine bits. In any case I found that it is easier to fit the exchangers when the engine is back in, and it's easier to see what you are doing. I managed to misplace a copper seal first time and had to do it later anyway. See other threads about this.

  15. Just about to start again so will see how far I get! Will post later with results!

  16. Yep heat exch has to come off, both to get the fan off. Nightmare, left hand exchanger is in holes, new one me thinks,
