On topic, the ferry parking bays for motorcaravans are 7m x 4m high so don't think you will have a problem. The ferry police won't let you book on as a car although our bays are no bigger than some modern cars.

  5. We booked ours into the Eurotunnel once as car under 2.35m (which I think is the next height measurement up from 1.80m). I know ours is 2.1m because the skylights on the Martin Walter roof just brush the underneath of the car park barrier at the multi-storey next to my workplace and the height limit there is 2.1m. Dormobile roof is slightly higher than a Westy.

  6. I always put "car" cos it's cheaper....(and I am prepared to stand it next the a people carrier etc...):hattip:

motorhomes are massive and should pay more....;)

I’ve never booked as a motorcaravan and have never had a problem.

@Day Have you measured it yet? It isn’t 2.10m but if you think its only 1.85m you might end up like that Brazilian Bay.

  9. I booked as a van on brittany ferries , was £30 more so just did it to avoid hassle.

  10. 2.03 with a Devon style raising roof, 2.06 with the roof rack fitted.

  11. Westies are not really that big, cute little things, shouldn't take up too much room.;)

My Westy is lowered by about 3" and is around 1.97m on 185/75/14" tyres and I got in the 2m section of the IOW ferry - I was somewhat apprehensive! - without issue, waved on vigorously by the steward. Stock must be over 2m. I had the impression something like 2.05...
