How does the main heater tube fit?

  1. Does this 70mm OD heater tube have to be fitted before welding in the cross members or does it slide in one end then slide back into the other or is there another way?
I don't have the tube here to hand so not sure whether I need to complete the cross members (don't have them here t the moment either) before or after fitting the tube.

  2. might be easier. if its a solid tube. never fitted one. but i would of thought the more cross members you need to fit being located on the tube will save you an headache later...

ps. whats the avatar picture of ....lol

  3. it fits through the rear cross member but just short of the front cross member.

........I think you could probably just about fit it with cross members in place.

the rear cross member has a 'cut out' so it can fit over the heater pipe when it is in place.......the front cross over has a hole

Its only the director/valve piece that goes through the front cross member

I have a couple of cross members for sale....the pics might help?....although I cut away a section of the front one but didnt need it in the end

  4. I don't suppose anyone has pics of the front section where it comes through the crossmember to show the extremity of the pipe? Mine is rotten and the end is all ragged so needs a repair but I don't know how far to take it.

Dale, I'll hang fire m8 as I want to get an exact copy of what came out and they're only £26 each with Schofields and look the same.
