Im going to have to make my own i think £25 is far too steep for me I best transpose that diagram into metric first though otherwise im sure the end product wont fit lol
Point to note is that the hoover bit is also bolted to the fan housing, which leads to serious confusion when you're trying to pull it off ...
tbh i did a fair bit of looking at the hoover bit,[named after a hoover fella] who advised vw on it, i looked at the oil cooler and the tin ware round it and there is only mm's of gap, i have sealed it with some thin foam type stuff glued on to the cooler and the tinware when its fitted the gasp is sealed up...!
Apparently the hoover bit not only stops the cooling air being dumped out prematurly but also stops the tinware being flexed out under the pressure created by the fan also causing loss of cooling air So i suppose using foam to seal the gap wouldent work once the fan is running full chat
It is. The hoover bit is meant to secure the side of the doghouse (and confuse you if you try to take the shroud off without undoing it )
Whilst reading round today aswell i found out that if you have an aftermarket dog house cooler scat etc and the stock vw hoover tin That the gap on the aftermarket doghouse is wider and so the standard vw hoover doesent seal the gap properly
an article which may prove the point .. http://bobhooversblog.blogspot.co.uk/2006/11/vw-hoover-bit.html
