Im looking for an electric heater for when Im on hook up, needs to be compact quiet and safe, Im not sure if there is a fan heater out there that would fit the bill or if a small oil filled radiator would be the way to go.

i use one of those little convector heaters i got it from argos, just the job.

  3. I am after something similar, liking the idea of a small oil filled rad rather than a fan one. Just seems a bit safer to me.

  4. We use a little 240v fan heater from argos its cracking...tried an oil filled rad but wasnt as good plus it was bigger and heavier and harder to stow away when travelling,

    Mark :)

  6. We use a fan heater on hook up as they heat the bus/awning up fast and are useful for drying off when you're wet!!!! Ours is 1400w and wont trip out hookups as its just the temp thats variable not the fan speed. It also has a doodad that switches it off when knocked over.

  9. Its a 2kw (I thought it was 1400!!!) one from argos but tbh we've never ran it on full. We just went cheap and as long as it had the knock off switch I was happy. In a bus a fan heater warms it up in seconds- I'm quite good at the arm out of bed and switch heater on manouver now ;)

My preference would be a mini oil filled radiator - silent, and will continue to give off heat when off.

And although I'm sure you shouldn't but anything over it - it's the only option that you can dry stuff on.

  13. im my experience some sites ive been on in the past say no heaters because of the costs and the load on their electrical system. some are restricted to 6 amp some up to 16 amp
i also favour mini oil filled rad, small, not a dry heat to dry your eyes out, silent running for over night, safe to leave on when not in your bus (when your out getting drunk in the local) and a good constant heat, about 600 or 750 watt is enough and almost any electrical system can handle that with out tripping any mcb's

fan heaters are too noisey, a dry heat that dry your eyes out, they rely on a good power supply. also when you think about it, its a red hot wire with air flowing over it, i wouldnt leave one on when not inside. cannot be regulated as much as an oil filled rad. you cant cover them, and not much smaller than an oil filled rad.
my oil filled rad is about 35 cm by 35 cm by about 10 cm wide, small cheap and cheap to run. i think i got it from tesco for about £20.

  17. Have to agree oil heaters much better than fan heater in van, I have a delonghi bambino 750 watt similar to the dimplex one in above post from Argos. I see Argos have a 350 watt oil heater, enough to take the chill out of the air .
