Holey Front panel and stubborn headlights.

  1. Bought a bus last year that had a spare wheel mounted on the front panel.

I don’t like that look personally, so I’ve removed it.

This have left me with a front panel in a bit of a mess. The spare wheel bracket was held in place using additional holes to those that seem to have been provided for the task.

The paint is in a bit of a mess too so will be looking to make this my first resto panel.

Any advice or tips before I follow the YouTube advice?

Also my headlight retaining screws just spin. I can’t seem to remove my headlights. Haven’t tried any kind of mechanical leverage yet.

So any advice to removing the headlights would be grand. [IMG]

  2. Mine was like that, but had also had a bump the filler had cracked and gone rusty behind it

  3. Welded our bolt holes up and ground back nicely.

If you have the 3-screw headlamp rims and are presumably unscrewing the correct screw - the ones at 3 and 9 o’clock, and the screws/bolts come right out, then they’ve probably lost the ferrule that should be on the serrated part of the screw shaft and should push the rim off as you unscrew them, as have mine.
I use a screwdriver in the screw hole with the handle levered toward the outside of the bus and a plastic tyre lever under the rim edge to lever off the rim.
Be careful though it’s easy to slip and scratch the paintwork! Or for the lamp unit to fall out!
They’re a sod to get off.
