Hitch hiking - who still does it, did it and/or picks up other hitchers?

    i hitched everywhere watching man utd in the 70s , sometimes i got picked up by other utd fans and other times other supporters , they were good times and everyone was kind to me -- i was only a kid 13 - 17 , its one of the best times of my life .

    i once picked a German student when i was coming back from Southampton in my truck , i had a big butchers made pork pie that i had just bought and offered him some , he never knew what it was but was so hungry he had some , he ate the lot after that and thanked me for introducing him to his first English dish .

    i don't pick hitch hikers up now because we are not insured for passengers .

    Never picked up a hitch hiker but when I was younger and camping at Folkstone with my parents my mum and I went for a walk on the beach early one morning and met a tattooed, pierced skinhead who she invited back to the tent for tea and breakfast and lent him the key to have a shower. He was a very friendly and polite man. :))

    Hitchhiked from the ferry at Brindisi in Italy to London. Heard you could get a ferry for free as a drivers mate at Ostend. Told my lift about that and he gave me the ferry fare!
    Only way to travel back on the day :)
