High Pressure Fuel Lines for Fuel Injection

  1. Hi, first post here, usually on the SSVC for problems with my Split!

Anyway, I'm here as I'm unmothballing my 78 Westfalia. It's an ex-US fuel injected bus, with automatic transmission for extra unusualness! It's been sat in my garage for three years now, and I thought it was time to wake it up and see what sort of state he's in....

I started putting some petrol in, but soon discovered it was exiting at a merry old rate onto the garage floor. A quick check found that the fuel return to the tank was badly split at both ends, and most of the petrol was being dumped on the starter!!! The battery is now disconnected! Research has shown that this line should be a high pressure (35 psi) line, however I'm having trouble finding any uk suppliers. Anyone know where I can get hold of any? It's 7mm internal diameter and I' after c.3m of it as I'm going to replace all of the perishable bits.

FYI, it looks like the stuff last used under there was bog standard cotton braid pipe which was probably put there by one of the garages I used to use. Certainly wasn't me! Now I have the facilities, I shall be doing the work on it myself!

  2. Any motor factors should have FI line off the reel. Halfords sell it as well.

  3. I had a look on the Halfords Website but didn't see it there. Only really buy from them if I'm desperate though! They're convenient but you can usually find stuff a lot cheaper elsewhere!

I'll have another gander and see what I come up with! Just wanted to get good quality stuff!

i'm running a 2 litre fuel injected auto too, i got all the hose (high pressure) from a local motor factors easily enough.

  6. You can get it off eBay. I bought my FI fuel lines from there. I'm on my mobile so can't link to it but if you do a search for VW fuel line 7.6cm I'm sure you'll find it.

If not I'll find a link when I'm on my computer tomorrow.

there is a fatter piece about 9mm if i recall for the pump to filter as well, you actually only need the high pressure pipe after the pump, all other hose is gravity fed from tank bottom

  8. Search eBay for number 250833589945

That's what I got. They also do clips and other hose sizes, (my FI has a small bit of larger hose between pump and filter).

    Good product and quick service.

  9. Cheers guys, that's exactly what I'm after. :D

Looking forward to getting this done and rolling the old boy out of the garage. He's on a set of steels with no tyres at the moment, it was the only way I could get it inside!

Very impressed with the help on here too. Loads of replies in no time at all! I'll definitely be on here plenty more in the future splitting my time between here and SSVC!! ::)

I suppose I'd better put a thread on the rides bit too so you all know what I've been hiding away!

    Cheers

  10. No problem, it's all down hill from now on ;)

  11. Just ordered the FI hose off eBay as suggested. May even be here for the weekend if I'm lucky and I can get started!

Pump and filter were replaced not long before layup so hopefully the thicker bit inbetween will be ok, I'll give it the once over tho!

    Cheers for the advice all!
