Long time no see... I hope everyone is well? I went to my van a few days ago to fire it up for the first time in a few months and found a floppy indicator stalk, no idea how this happened but I suspect the kids have been using it as a playground. Ive done some searching around and found a few threads on the subject, I can find the part on a few of the usual suspects websites, my question is, Im guessing that these will all come from the same pattern supplier? JK is coming out at twice the price of Heritage and GSF so unless anyone knows if the JK one is better then I will get one from Heritage. Any tips on fitting the thing?
What year are you? I know they are rare for crossover years. It's most likely that the plastic inside has broken. If I was you, I would hunt out a man called @paneuropaul who has been incredibly helpful to me in the past on this subject. Maybe he can help you too Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
Thanks Jules, its a 77, Ive taken off the horn cover and the steering wheel and there is definitely a broken part in there, Im pretty sure its this assembly https://www.gsfcarparts.com/933vg02...zJjZ8T0qfwSDwkLYmjGJN5KBcxHB7n9oaAoGkEALw_wcB I need but as there are few sellers of these out there I was wondering if any one is better than another.
Oh this is very different from mine. Looking at that price, I'd say you don't need to worry about it like I did. The prices for mine were closer to £200 and nobody has them in stock. Count yourself lucky Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
I just changed mine a couple of weeks back. My advice is to try and find a used genuine part. The JK and heritage switches are awful. A good used one will be about £50 and once cleaned up will work better and last longer. I did have one joker quote me £125 for a used one but as a favour he'd drop to £100 My tip would be to thoroughly clean both switches, wiper and indicator while they're out. I used a small screwdriver to scrape out all the muck, white spirit and a small old toothbrush to clean it all up and a thorough blasting with a compressed air gun. Everything moves and clicks properly now
Thank you Mark, I found a original one on Ebay for £50 so thats on its way to me, I may tap you up on installation advice if I get stuck if thats ok. Cheers. Jase
Well done. Make sure all the little wires are properly seated in their channels and aren't damaged. Sure, no problem.
Well, my used original assemble came yesterday and I was all up for doing the swap today, sadly there seems to have been a issue in transit, it was pretty well packaged but when I opened it, there were a few 'floaters' in the form of a small spring and a plastic U shaped piece, it looks like the top plate has come away from its retaining plastic shroud and the bits have made a bid for freedom, I tried to match them up to where they come from by looking at my old knackered assembly, but its impossible, my own unit exploded into parts when i tried to locate where they came from, the seller is OK to take it back, so, Im still looking for a original complete unit if anyone has a recommendation of where to look.
