Darling husband has got the throttle cable stuck when trying to replace on the VW pick up truck. He is not a happy man! Any suggestions a caring, patient wife could give him? He seems to be under there a long time and getting more frustrated by the minute! Thank you
plenty of tea or cold drinks ask him if its a type 1 or type 4 engine if its a type 1 the cable is a git to get through the fan housing so he will need more tea / fags / sympathy then say that its only a cable and why is it taking so long
if you get under the van and look around above the gearbox area you should be able to see the cable where its come out of the tube and not gone into the tube in the back of thr fan housing
Honestly the positions my husbands asks me to get into, he then gets all excited cos he thinks he feels something and then frustration again! I'm not sure I can take any more of this! I think I will make another cup of tea!
best to see if it has snagged any where... and if your planning on replacing it... either attach summit to the end to help pulling a new cable thru..in either direction i may add.
What is he trying to do get it in or out and why if it's gone thru the fan housing gearbox side and then down it ll be stuck on the oil cooler if so cut it and go and get a new one got mine stuck like this once and spent four hours trying to get it out !!!!!!
LOL I do only have 1 husband! Well I think we will be trying again tomorrow. He is trying to get it in but is stuck and now it won't come in or out. I think he should have greased it up better but then what would I know. ???
Follow the conduit from one end. Spuds like it has been crushed somewhere along the way. Simple remedy is to cutout the offending piece of conduit and put a new bit back.
Possibly the end pipe where it comes out is to bent up for the large metal cable end to get down, I had the problem an had to bend the pipe to get it to fit down it =]
