I did most of my apprenticeship on farms some of the things I saw had me running for cutters

 

its usually because farmers are as tight as duck..

 

Farmers are the worst. Pleading poverty with a brand new discovery on the drive. Some of the worst lash ups I ever see are on farms.

 

I’ve never seen a poor farmer.... brexit might change that.

 

Nah. They’ll all just convert over to glamping

 

There's some poor ones around here. Some of them only have last years Range Rovers, shocking.

 

If farmers are so well off, why are so many committing suicide?

 

I think it depends on the type of farmer and farm. Hill farmers near me have never been rich, just getting by with sheep and a few cows. A bad year lambing can really hurt them, non had rangies, most ran very old cars with everything going back into the farm.
It’s a very hard, 365 days a year, long days in all weathers, life!

 

And they can't afford to retire. Work until you drop.

 

They tend to hand farms down through the family don't they?

 

True but a lot of family don't want to farm so they just sell up to the big boys.
