  1. Hi all,

I used to browse the forums a few years ago and now I'm having a crack at a restoration I though it was about time I got registered!

    Bus story
I have a 78 Devon Moonraker — stolen, trashed and recovered about 7 years ago; the insurance company poorly bodged everything back together and it was returned not looking too great (they were adamant it was "repaired" though). Drove it as it was and did a huge amount of "mechanical" work, then things on the iron oxide and interior front took a turn for the worse...

So here we are today, after a few years SORN'd deciding whether to just sell it or not, I'm going to give it a go. Stripping everything back I've discovered many a demon hidden away. Aside from the insurance bodges it now looks like the previous owners have just welded bits of panel over the top of old rust. The original wood in the Moonraker interior also resembles small piles of course top-soil.

Plan of attack is to go back to basics, rather than a full camping interior. I'm keen on cycling, skiing, surfing and am a freelance designer, so a practical van that I can use for the above, and also use for some proper camping trips to the mountains is the goal!

    Under the belly pans:

As the wood part of the interior is non-salvageable I've got all the sink, cooker, bunks, seats etc. laying around, so I'll get a post up with a few goodies for sale later this week.

I'm based in sunny Sheffield too if anyone wants to meet up and have a little cry about rust.

    Cheers!
    Sam

  6. Once the belly pans are off its like a huge weight has been lifted.
