Hello all... I'm going wild but not without a spare!

  1. Hi all,

Hope everyone is OK. Was awesome to see Wildman and some of the crew at Volksworld.... anyway. To the point. I bought a great westy trailer (type with the outrigger wheels) on ebay recently for a mere £100 with the intention of using it on a trip to France / Spain this summer. However, there is no spare wheel and I've had trouble getting hold of one. The only place I have found that sells them is in Germany but won't export to other EC states. I'm not keen on travelling without as it could mean trouble if we have a puncture - so i am gonna put a request out to anyone who might have one and be willing to lend or hire (!) one to us for our trip. hey, if anyone has one to sell even better!

Thanks in advance.... failing that, anyone else got a back up plan. Tyreweld?

    Martin

  2. Spare tyre and some tyre irons so you can change the actual tyres on the rim

  4. Aaaah. The Norfolk cider. Happy days.

  5. There is a foam you can buy to spray into your tyres before they puncture that stays in there and seals up as soon as you get a puncture

A pre tyre weld if you like

The farmers and game keepers round here use it on the quads

Martin, I bought a westy trailer from Franks VW Bus Parts.

I dealt with Lore (pronounced Laura), Franks better half - she is great to deal with and might be able to help source the parts you need as they sell the westy trailers on ebay

this is true^ how many punctures have you actually had (while driving?) i can't recall any, but have ocasionally found a nail in by pure fluke whilst servicing or cleaning, once the propex goes in i won't be carrying a spare.

  14. Cheers all. It's just one of those things isn't it? How many times do you get a smashed windscreen in your driving career? yet we had one in France in our T25. Was the original so it shattered all over the van on the motorway. We had to wait two days to get one shipped in and then had to stay in a hotel (booo) whilst waiting. So you know, I remain cautious with the planning!

    I shall try Frank's.

    Thanks again.

Oh yes. Apologies to Wiseman for calling him Wildman. But that's what he is I suppose....

  19. The spare i carry is brand new its my only fail safe way of insuring i dont get a puncture ;) . One hunderd percent if i didnt take it i would get a puncture. Id go wild if i hadnt. But when you have a 40yr old VW, who knows whats going to happen to stop you rolling on really?? :)
