Heater control pods and bellows

  1. Hi, We're in the process of sorting out the heating in our 1974 T2 bay with 1700cc engine. We've got the new heat exchangers fitted and the heat riser elbows are in place. However to buy the heater control pods and bellows will cost an additional £160! What we're planning on doing is to omit the bellows and heater pods and plumb in some 60mm diameter warm air ducting/hose directly to the heat riser elbows into the plumbing on the bus. I understand that I'll have no control over the heating and it will come through the vents constantly. But I'd prefer this than no warm air at all! I can always open a window lol
Has anyone done this? Am I missing anything in terms of damaging anything?
Your comments will be appreciated. Thank you.

That will work. You can always keep an eye open for some cheaper used pods in the future...

  3. You will roast to death come summer though, but then you can disconnect them again:eek:. Somebody had a big box of used pods at Vanfest a bit back. The concertina pipes are currently going at £40 a pair at JK BTW These are their own make but I've fitted some and they seem pretty good.

  4. I'll live with roasting to death and spend some of the £160 savings on a fan ;) I just didn't want to be doing something that could ultimately end up damaging our bus. Thx for replies x
